Loire Valley: Domaine de la Perriere

The Baudry family, acquiring the deed to this domaine in 1664, produces all of their wines from Cabernet Franc using traditional methods and modern equipment. Christophe BAUDRY, owner at CRAVANT LES COTEAUX, son and grandson of winemakers, is the man who carries on the family tradition. Wine-Making Partner Jean-Martin DUTOUR, passionate with wine, settled in the Chinon region in 1993 after getting a diploma as viticulturalist-oenologue. Over the last 10 years this complementary partnership has enabled them to their energy, competencies and technical knowledge working towards one unique goal: producing quality CHINON wines in order to satisfy their clientele.

  • Chinon Rose 'Cuvee Marie Justine'

Baudry-Dutour’s rosé from Chinon has a lovely nose of red fruits with floral notes. On the palate it shows red fruit, a nicely textured mid-palate full of minerality, and a clean crisp finish. It’s perfect balance will complement any dish: fish, roasted chicken, pork, charcuterie or light meat dishes.

    • Chinon Red

The 25-hectare vineyard which surrounds the original residence is planted with a unique grape variety CABERNET FRANC. As its old Gallic name – meaning “stony countryside” – suggests, Domaine de la Perrière is composed of small pebbles. The gravels from the recent alluvial deposits from the Vienne River give a poor, well-drained soil, particularly favourable to the cultivation of the vines.
